Shopify PWA Development
Progressive web app builds with home-screen install and attribution tracking.
Shopify PWA development is the process of turning a Shopify store into a progressive web app, one that customers add to their phone's home screen and use like an app, without an App Store or Google Play download. Cart abandonment runs around 85 percent on mobile web versus roughly 20 percent inside apps (Barilliance; Venn Apps), and a PWA closes part of that gap without the timeline of a native build. Bonsify is a Shopify services company by FetchSky that builds native iOS and Android apps, PWAs, new Shopify stores, platform migrations, custom apps, and more.
What's included
- PWA build with home-screen install prompt
- Push notification setup, supported on PWAs with some platform limitations
- Install-to-purchase attribution, so the impact of the PWA is measurable
- Discount-based install incentive setup, the same mechanic behind Dockify
- Optional support retainer for ongoing updates
Why a PWA over a native app
A PWA skips app store review entirely, so it can go live faster than a native build, days rather than weeks. It works well as a first step for a store that hasn't validated app demand yet, or as a standing option alongside a native app for customers who won't download from a store but will tap "add to home screen." Dockify, Bonsify's own Shopify App Store product, is built on exactly this model: a home-screen install prompt that rewards the install with a discount code and tracks install-to-purchase attribution from there.
A PWA does have real limits compared to native. Offline functionality is more limited, push notification control is less granular, and performance, while faster than a standard mobile site, doesn't fully match native software. The free audit weighs those tradeoffs against the store's actual traffic and repeat purchase data rather than assuming a PWA fits every case.
How the process works
The engagement runs in four phases: a free audit to determine whether a PWA, a native app, or both make sense, the build, launch, and an optional support retainer. Pricing is a fixed quote after the audit, with no success fees or GMV percentage, and the client owns the PWA and its data throughout.
Beyond PWAs
The same team also builds native iOS and Android apps, and handles the rest of the Shopify stack, store builds, migrations, and custom development, so a PWA recommendation isn't a default, it's what the audit actually finds.
Getting started
The free audit reviews the store's real mobile conversion data and comes back with a scoped recommendation, PWA, native, or both, in days.

A PWA is installed from a browser via "add to home screen" with no app store review, while a native app is downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and offers deeper device access and push control.
A PWA can go live in days since there's no app store submission or review process involved.
Yes, though with more platform limitations than native push notification control.
Dockify is Bonsify's own Shopify App Store product, built on the PWA install-and-reward model, while a custom PWA build is scoped specifically to an individual store's needs.
Yes. Some stores run both, depending on what the audit recommends for their traffic and repeat purchase behavior.
A few days, based on the store's real mobile conversion data.
