Shopify App Maintenance and Support

Ongoing maintenance retainer covering platform updates and resubmissions.

Shopify app maintenance and support is the ongoing work of keeping a native app running correctly after launch: testing against Shopify platform updates, resubmitting to app stores when Apple or Google change requirements, and fixing issues as they come up. An app that isn't maintained tends to degrade quietly, slower performance, broken features after a Shopify update, until customers notice before the merchant does. Bonsify is a Shopify services company by FetchSky that builds native iOS and Android apps, PWAs, new Shopify stores, platform migrations, custom apps, and more.

What's included

  • Testing and compatibility updates as Shopify releases platform changes
  • App store resubmissions when Apple or Google update SDK or guideline requirements
  • Bug fixes and performance monitoring
  • Push notification strategy adjustments as store data and customer behavior evolve
  • Direct access to the team that built the app, rather than a new team learning it from scratch

Why maintenance matters more than it seems at launch

An app that works well on launch day doesn't stay that way automatically. Shopify updates its platform regularly, Apple and Google update their SDKs and review guidelines multiple times a year, and any of those changes can break a feature that worked fine the week before. On a self-serve builder, that maintenance work falls to whoever on the merchant's team has time, which in practice is usually nobody, and issues pile up until the app noticeably underperforms.

Bonsify's support retainer keeps that maintenance with the team that already knows the app's codebase and the store's specific setup, rather than starting from zero with a new team or letting issues sit unaddressed. It's optional, not bundled into every build by default, so merchants only pay for the level of ongoing support that fits their situation.

How the process works

Support is the fourth phase of Bonsify's process: audit, build, launch, and an optional support retainer. The retainer is scoped separately from the build itself, so a merchant can start with just the build and add support later, or set it up from day one.

BachaParty (bachaaparty.com) and Highfy (highfy.pk) both run on Bonsify's ongoing support model.

Beyond app maintenance

The same support relationship extends to the rest of the Shopify stack if needed, store optimization, theme updates, or CRO work, so ongoing support isn't limited strictly to the app itself if a store's needs shift.

Getting started

The free audit, or a direct conversation for stores with an existing app, scopes what a maintenance and support retainer would look like.

No, it's an optional retainer scoped separately from the initial build.

Issues tend to accumulate quietly as Shopify, Apple, and Google update their platforms, eventually showing up as broken features or declining performance.

Yes, that scope is typically defined during a store's free audit or a direct conversation about the existing app.

It depends on the frequency of platform changes from Shopify, Apple, and Google, which vary but happen multiple times a year.

Yes. Ongoing push strategy adjustments are part of the retainer as store data and customer behavior change.

It's scoped separately from the build, based on the store's app and ongoing needs.
